Gore’s Dragoons were retitled Churchill’s and subsequently Cobham’s Dragoons.
At this time a regiment was named after the officer who had received a warrant from the monarch. In 1723 Gore’s Dragoons were retitled Churchill’s Dragoons, and subsequently in 1745 Cobham’s Dragoons.
