In 1806 the 10th Light Dragoons became the first hussar regiment in the British Army, in imitation of the famous Hungarian light cavalry.Â
 Subsequently in 1811 they were retitled the 10th, The Prince of Wales’s Own, Royal Hussars. In 1921 they were retitled the 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales’s Own).Â
