A Hawk at War is the Personal Reminiscences of General Sir Thomas Brotherton CB. Brotherton joined the 14th Light Dragoons in 1798, aged just 22 he was already a veteran and served as a Captain during the Peninsular War of 18108 – 1814. In later life he recorded his recollections which are collected here.They offer an incredible insight into the life of a Cavalry officer during the Peninsular War. A man of immense personal courage his memories include duels with French officers, daring escapes, discipline and his time spent as a Prisoner.
The editor, Bryan Perrett, also authored ‘The Hawks’, a short history of thee 14th/20th King’s Hussars.
