In 1999 the regiment moved back from Germany to England.
The regiment moved from York Barracks, Münster to Aliwal Barracks, Tidworth on the edge of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. On 24th June 2000 the Colonel-in-Chief, Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, presented a guidon to the regiment at Tidworth. In 2001 the regiment were equipped with the Challenger 2 main battle tank.
