Print from ‘The Last Call’ by Richard Caton-Woodville. An imagined scene from the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854 as a Trumpeter of the 11th Hussars (PAO) is wounded while blowing ‘the last call’ during the Charge of the Light Brigade. The original painting is owned by the King’s Royal Hussars.
Richard Caton Woodville Jr (1856-1927) was an English artist and illustrator best known for his battle scenes including many from the Crimea. ‘The Last Call’, painted in 1915, was his last Balaclava painting.
