B Squadron deployed to Afghanistan in September 2007 on Operation HERRICK, the codename under which all UK operations in Afghanistan were conducted from 2002.
They were equipped with the Mastiff armoured vehicle, and operated in Helmand Province as an independent manoeuvre force. This operational tour was filled with hostile incidents, including fire fights with the Taliban. Corporal Street, who was attached to the regiment from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, was awarded the Military Cross.
