The 10th Hussars and 11th Light Dragoons spent several long tours of duty in India protecting British trade interests and defending her frontiers.
In 1825 the 11th Light Dragoons took part in the Siege of Bhurtpore, a strongly fortified town ruled by an Indian prince who had rebelled against British influence.
