In 1970, the regiment changed to the armoured car role and dispersed between Tidworth, Singapore and Hong Kong.
They retrained on Saladin, Saracen and Ferret Scout Cars and were dispersed between Tidworth and the Far East with Regimental Headquarters and C Squadron in Tidworth, A Squadron in Singapore, and B Squadron in Hong Kong.
