King’s Royal Hussars Regimental Christmas Card depicting ‘The Tenth Don’t Dance’ by Captain T. S. Seccombe produced c.1873. This carictaure references a which from an incident in Ireland in 1823. While attending a ball in Dublin, officers of the 10th Hussars were invited to join the festivities. They replied, “the 10th don’t dance”. The Regiment was branded as arrogant and rude, resulting in numerous parodies and cartoons and continued well into the 19th and 20th Centuries.

The design inside has the King’s Royal Hussars cap badge and the message:

‘With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year’
